About Us

The aim of Carlisle Key is to help young people towards independent living.

Carlisle Key works with young people 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

We provide assistance and support within our drop-in and housing service to alleviate the hardship and distress caused by homelessness, housing, mental health, financial and other related difficulties.

We empower young people by giving them the knowledge, support, and confidence they need so that they can live independently and take an active role in the local community.

History of Carlisle Key

Carlisle Key was incorporated on the 10th June 2003 as Community Projects Carlisle. On the 20th January 2012 the name was changed to Carlisle Key and remains so to this day.

In 2015 we moved to 29 Fisher Street where we stayed for 7 years and created lots of great memories and met some fantastic people.

In December 2019 we opened our supported accommodation which is available to young people in need.

In 2022 we relocated our offices to 123a-127 Botchergate. This office is a drop-in service so that anyone can come in when they need support without the need of making appointments. In 2024 we improved our food parcels, from having frozen meals, pasta, sauces and canned food to adding weekly food delivery to our drop-in and supported accommodation by partnering with Fareshare Recycling. Fareshare recycling is a food redistribution centre from Preston, this gave us access to fresh food such as meats, vegetables and fruit.
